Local Area Networks or LAN cable now connect a massive number of personal computers, printers, file servers, and workstations in the modem office of business and manufacturing facilities. The new standard called fast Ethernet has been increased to provide transmission speed of 100 megabits per second. Gigabit Ethernet provides 1000 megabits per second for a higher level of backbone support and 10-Gigabit Ethernet supplies up to ten billion bits per second.

10Base-T LAN cable looks like the standard telephone cable except that it is heavier because instead of having two pairs of wires, it has four pairs. For the reason that it has additional four wires, it uses a modular plug called RJ-45 connector. If you are going to use 10Base-T with over two personal computers, it will require setting up an additional connectivity device such as a router, a hub, or a switch depending on the requisites of the LAN. Meaning, the user might install multiple connecting cables of different lengths and circuit schemes.

In general, one cable will connect each PC to the hub. To daisy-chain multiple hubs together, or to link the hub to broadband modem, additional cables may be used. LAN cables are relatively easy and simple to handle, install, use, and terminate. It is capable of performing efficiently and transmits the data accurately between the communication devices.
